At a Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Thimphu, capital city of Bhutan with the director of the BHU; Dorrie K. Fontaine, PhD, RN, FAAN, Professor of Nursing and Dean; University of Virginia School of Nursing; and Dr. Chencho Dorjee, Director of the Royal Institute of Health (RIHS) in Bhutan.
Capacity building for research and public health practice remains a priority in many countries throughout the world. As part of its focus on global health, faculty at the Yale School of Public Health partner with international partners to present leadership and training programs both in their countries and for short courses at the Yale School of Public Health.
Some recent initiatives include:
- Global Health Leadership Initiative - develops leadership through education and research programs that strengthen health systems and promote health equity and quality of care in countries around the world, including research leadership training for 30 mid-career scholars in Sudan.
- Bhutan - support and promote education and research opportunities for faculty, staff and students at two academic institutions
- China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) - training in regulatory affairs
- Yale China Children's Hospital Training Program - Executive Leadership Workshop and Clinical Research Training Workshop
