Career Advising and Services for PhD Students
The Office of Career Strategy (OCS) offers PhD students access to their database of career opportunities through Yale Career Link. In addition, counselors in OCS will critique resumes and cover letters and conduct practice interviews with the students upon request. OCS's weekly newsletter is personalized around the topics students have chosen. OCS also conducts workshops for the students on topics such as:
- Salary Negotiation
- Job and Internship Search Strategies
- Interviewing
- Telling Your Story and Networking
As expected, many PhD students also receive career advice from their adviser and other faculty mentors. Advisers often network with their colleagues about career opportunities for the students they work with, and this may result in job offers.
The YSPH Alumni office hosts a Mentoring Program that is available to MS and PhD students. Through this program, students can be matched to an alumnus in a specific field of interest and begin establishing a professional relationship for advice on many issues, including careers.
