Research Summary
My research endeavor contributes to literature on outcomes research, focusing on breast cancer and end-of-life care. I am leading several breast cancer projects, including an evaluation of preoperative breast MRI, development of an individualized decision aid to help radiotherapy decision-making, and assessment of sentinel lymph node biopsy for patients with ductal carcinoma in situ. I am also working on cost-effectiveness analyses of chemotherapy and genetic profiling, which will facilitate value-based practice. I also conduct research examining end-of-life care intensity, such as patterns of end-of-life care transitions and the associations between hospice use and end-of-life expenditures. Currently, I am serving as the principal investigator for the following two projects:
Title: Comparative modeling of multiple myeloma across myeloma control continuum: prevention, treatment, and disparity reduction
Major Goals: To build natural history modeling for multiple myeloma progression, and evaluate whether promising intervention strategies throughout the continuum of care will prevent the devastating disease or improve survival outcomes
Project/Proposal Start and End Date: 09/2021 – 08/2026
Source of Support: NIH/NCI
Title: Novel conceptual framework for cancer comparative effectiveness research
Major Goals: Using systematic literature review, secondary data analysis, and simulation modeling, we will identify the optimal sequences of treatment for advanced lung cancer
Project/Proposal Start and End Date: 01/2023 – 12/2026
Source of Support: American Cancer Society
