Biography

Dr. LaDrea Ingram is a Research Associate Scientist in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Yale School of Public Health and an Instructor in the Executive Master of Public Health program. She is a practitioner-scholar and is licensed in clinical mental health counseling (LCMHC) and as a licensed clinical addiction specialist (LCASA), bringing integrated clinical and behavioral health expertise to her research, teaching, and community-engaged work.

Dr. Ingram’s work focuses on advancing health equity through community-engaged, implementation science approaches that address intergenerational trauma, substance use, and HIV-related disparities among underserved populations, particularly African American women. Her scholarship bridges clinical practice, behavioral science, and population health to develop culturally responsive interventions that promote resilience, psychological wellness, and improved health outcomes.

She has led and contributed to NIH-funded and other federally supported research projects examining trauma, maternal health, addiction, and community-based prevention strategies, and currently serves as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on studies addressing mental and behavioral health outcomes.

In addition to her research, Dr. Ingram is deeply committed to translational science and community partnership. She brings extensive experience working across academic, healthcare, and faith-based systems to design and implement programs that bridge research and practice. Prior to joining Yale faculty, she served as a data scientist and health services researcher at Atrium Health/Wake Forest School of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training in implementation science and health equity at the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Ingram holds a Doctor of Education in Health Education and Behavior and a Master of Arts in Health Education from Columbia University, a Master of Science in Health and Medical Policy from George Mason University, a Master of Arts in Government from Johns Hopkins University, and a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina State University.

Her work has been recognized through numerous national honors, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leadership Institute for Racial Healing Award from the National Collaborative for Health Equity, reflecting her commitment to advancing equity, innovation, and community-driven health solutions.
