Chronic Disease Epidemiology (CDE)

Why did you choose the Yale School of Public Health?

I’m in the dual PA (Physician Associate)/MPH program, and the dedication of the YSPH faculty really impacted that decision. No matter your interests, there is always someone that is willing to support you or point you in the right direction. This was clear during the application process and really made me feel at home. The Chronic Disease Epidemiology Department was another huge draw for me. As a future PA, I want to focus my efforts on preventive medicine, so this was exactly what I was looking for to further my education.

What were you doing before enrolling at YSPH?

I worked as a clinical research coordinator in neuro-oncology and emergency department technician prior to enrolling at YSPH.

What are your favorite aspects of the YSPH academic program?

I’ve really appreciated the flexibility that YSPH allows you to have with your education. Whether it’s taking a course within another department or graduate school, or working part-time on a research project, there really aren’t limits to what you can do here.

What was your most impactful experience outside of class?

The Addiction Medicine Collaborative has been my favorite extracurricular at YSPH. We are an interdisciplinary group of public health, nursing, medical and PA students, and we lead a variety of educational efforts across the four health professional programs, including opioid overdose response training and student-led discussion events. I've really enjoyed working with students from other schools and the faculty that support our group are all amazing!

Do you have a favorite Yale place or New Haven food?

There are so many great restaurants in New Haven! One of my favorites is September in Bangkok. I love their outdoor area in the summer months.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

I’m hoping to find a position where I can balance my time between working in a clinic and contributing to research. I’m also really enjoying learning about implementation science and can see myself wanting to do something in that field.
