Yale School of Public Health joins the School of Management as a podcast sponsor

The Yale School of Public Health is now a proud sponsor of Health & Veritas, a lively and topical podcast hosted by YSPH and Yale School of Medicine physician-professors Drs. Howard P. Forman and Harlan M. Krumholz. The weekly podcast, a joint production of YSPH and the School of Management, began in September 2021 and new episodes go online every Thursday.

Each week, Forman and Krumholz discuss timely issues in public health, medicine, and health care with YSM and YSPH faculty, administrators, alumni, and staff as well as with other experts in various health-related fields.

Incoming YSPH Dean Megan Ranney was the podcast’s guest for Episode 77 on April 20. Ranney discussed how she got into public health, her vision for YSPH, her role as an emergency medicine physician, her activism in addressing gun violence, and what she sees as the future of public health.

Other recent guests include YSPH and YSM Professor Cary Gross, who spoke about effective cancer screening; Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, who discussed the systemic roots of inequities in health; Senior Lecturer Teresa Chahine, who spoke about social entrepreneurship; and MacArthur ‘genius’ and YSPH Associate Professor Gregg Gonsalves, who discussed his non-traditional route to improving responses to global health challenges.

“When Dr. Krumholz and I began this adventure into podcasting, we wanted to truly bring light and nuance to topics in public health and health, and we have been heartened that our audience has grown so much and that feedback is so positive,” said Forman, who added that listenership has grown more than 300% in the past year.

Upcoming podcast guests include:

  • Abbe R. Gluck, Alfred M. Rankin Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy at Yale Law School and Professor of Internal Medicine (General Medicine) at the Yale School of Medicine
  • Zack Cooper, Associate Professor of Public Health (Health Policy), and Associate Professor of Economics, and Associate Professor in the Institution for Social and Policy Studies
