Career Advising and Services for MS Students

MS students in public health have access to the services of both the YSPH Career Management Center and the Office of Career Strategy (OCS) in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS).

The YSPH Career Management Center grants access to the database of career opportunities, Handshake. The opportunities posted on this database more closely align with our one- and two-year MS Programs. A weekly newsletter, Career Talk, is sent to all MS students advertising recruiting events, internships, and full-time opportunities.

The Office of Career Strategy grants the students access to their database of career opportunities, "Yale Career Link." In addition, the counselors in this office will critique resumes and cover letters and conduct practice interviews with the students upon request. OCS also conducts workshops for the students on topics such as:

  • Salary Negotiation
  • Job and Internship Search Strategies
  • Interviewing
  • Telling Your Story and Networking
Finally, the Office of Career Strategy will review and provide feedback for the MS student's personal statement for graduate school.

The YSPH Alumni office hosts a Mentoring Program that is available to MS and PhD students. Through this program, students can be matched to alumni in a specific field of interest and begin establishing a professional relationship with these alumni for advice on many issues, including careers.

Many students in the MS Biostatistics Program receive job offers from the organizations they work for as a summer intern.
