Yale Biostatistics faculty and researchers develop cutting edge statistical methodology to handle complex data in public health, biology and medicine. In recent years, a few areas have been a focus of advanced modeling efforts. Statistical genetics has evolved into multi-omics, a field including data on genetics, genomics, proteomics and metabolomics. Methodological and data science advances in the field have enabled precision medicine tools and a deeper understanding of biological processes. Spatial data continue to be relevant for addressing infectious diseases, climate change and air pollution and the geographic determinants of health, with methods evolving to meet these challenges. And analyzing networks is crucial to understanding populations at the social and biological levels, providing modern challenges to traditional statistical methods. YSPH is at the forefront of interdisciplinary public health modeling, providing policy makers and care delivery organizations the data and analyses they need to make decisions.
