Join the Yale School of Public Health in hosting the 2025 New England Statistical Symposium
The New England Statistics Symposium is an annual conference that moves throughout the region. Short courses, break-out groups, poster sessions and keynote addresses are spread over two days. The New England Statistical Society (NESS) is a non-profit organization which is organized and operated for educational, charitable, and scientific purposes only. They strive to promote the growth and expansion of statistical science in the New England area and beyond.
The Yale School of Public Health is proud to be hosting this year's symposium as a joint effort with the Department of Statistics & Data Science and Yale Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Conference Dates and Location: June 2-June 3, 2025, New Haven, CT

Dr. Heping Zhang, Yale University
Speaker | Keynote Presentation
Heping Zhang, Ph.D. is Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Biostatistics, Professor in the Child Study Center, Professor of Statistics and Data Science, and Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, Yale University. He directs the Collaborative Center for Statistics in Science that coordinates clinical trials to evaluate treatment effectiveness for infertility. He was named the 2008 Myrto Lefokopoulou distinguished lecturer by Harvard School of Public Health and a Medallion Award and Lecturer by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. He is a former-editor of the Journal of the American Statistical Association - Applications and Case Studies. He was the recipient of the 2022 Neyman Award and Lecture by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and the 2023 Distinguished Achievement Award by the International Chinese Statistical Association. He was selected as a 2023 Highly Cited Researcher in cross field by Web of Science. His research interests are to develop and apply statistical methods in biomedical research including epidemiology, genetics, mental health, cognition, and reproductive medicine.
Shuangge Steven Ma, PhD

Dr. Ma received his Ph.D. degree in statistics at University of Wisconsin in 2004. Prior to arriving at Yale, Dr. Ma was a Senior Fellow in Collaborative Health Studies Coordinating Center (CHSCC) and Department of Biostatistics at University of Washington. He has been involved in developing novel statistical and bioinformatics methodologies for analysis of cancer (NHL, breast cancer, melanoma, lung cancer), mental disorders, and cardiovascular diseases. He has also been involved in health economics research, with special interest in health insurance in developing countries.
