For Students

Experiential Learning at YSPH

Experiential learning is a vital aspect of the YSPH student experience, providing students with numerous opportunities to apply public health theory and knowledge across various practice settings. The Applied Practice Experience (APE) is mandatory for all MPH students at YSPH and offers a unique chance for students to apply the specific knowledge and skills, referred to as competencies, that they acquire through coursework tailored to their interests and career objectives. Through the APE, students demonstrate the reinforcement of both foundational MPH core competencies and concentration-specific competencies that form the basis of the MPH curriculum. The APE is a requirement for all MPH students enrolled in an accredited public health program or school.
