Vice President Kamala Harris has announced a plan to lower national housing costs by building 3 million new housing units in the next four years. While efforts to address the current housing shortage are laudable, YSPH Assistant Professor Daniel Carrion and YSPH alumna Saira Prasanth offer another reason to address this issue: affordable housing can save lives.
