Application Process

Requirements

To be eligible for the Big Data Summer Immersion at Yale , applicants must:

  • Be undergraduates at an accredited school or university
  • Have an interest in scientific research
  • Possess some background knowledge of computing/programming and introductory statistics
  • The SIBS support is designed for U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents
  • We do have limited number of spots available for international students.

Application Process

To be considered complete, your application must include:

  • A personal statement outlining your interest in the program and your future goals (max 2 pages)
  • A CV or resume
  • Unofficial transcripts
  • A list of relevant coursework in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and biology
  • A reference letter from a professor or researcher who can speak to your academic abilities and research potential.

Completed applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The deadline for applications is March 14, 2025. Final decisions will be made by April 2, 2025.

Eligibility

  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency: SIBS Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • We have limited number of funded slots available for international students through institutional funding.
  • Underrepresented Groups: We encourage applications from students from underrepresented groups.

Selection Criteria

We prioritize applicants who:

  • Are sophomore or junior undergraduate students
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement
  • Express a strong interest in biostatistics and big data
  • Have a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and computer science
