Biography

Sheela Shenoi is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the AIDS Program of the Section of Infectious Diseases and Associate Director of the Office of Global Health at Yale University School of Medicine.  Dr. Shenoi received her M.P.H. from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and her M.D. from the University of Connecticut, and completed residency and fellowship training at Yale School of Medicine.  She is a member of the International AIDS Society, the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. Dr. Shenoi was honored as a Fulbright Scholar and was awarded an international clinical research fellowship in global health by the U.S. National Institutes of Health Fogarty International Center for Advanced Study in the Health Sciences. Dr. Shenoi works to improve clinical outcomes of those with HIV and/or tuberculosis and prioritizes implementation of prevention strategies.

Clinical Care

Overview

Sheela Shenoi, MD, MPH, is medical director of the Infectious Diseases Program, and treats and patients with a variety of infections and diseases.

“I enjoy helping patients feel better by identifying and treating their infection. I enjoy getting to know patients over time,” Dr. Shenoi says. “Infectious diseases is an exciting mixture of diagnosis and treatment of short-term and lifelong infections. I like working with patients to identify the best treatment for them and supporting them through their treatment. I tell them, ‘I will be here to help you through this.’”

She is also an active researcher with a focus on resource-limited settings. Dr. Shenoi works in South Africa, Ukraine, and Malaysia to examine ways to improve health outcomes and implement prevention for tuberculosis and HIV.

Dr. Shenoi is associate director of the Department of Internal Medicine’s Office of Global Health, a member of the International AIDS Society, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.
