Biography

Dr. Courtney Choy is a postdoctoral associate in Chronic Disease Epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health. She leads a program of research focused on identifying and addressing the risk and protective factors for obesity and related cardiometabolic diseases among Pacific people. Her goals are to inform public policy and develop interventions starting in childhood. Since 2014, she has engaged with communities and partners in Samoan-focused mixed methods research as a founding investigator of the ongoing Ola Tuputupua’e (Growing Up) in Samoa study and has supported research efforts of the Obesity Lifestyle and Genetic Adaptation (OLaGA) group. Her work has been supported by the United States Fulbright Research Fellowship and National Institute of Health fellowships (F31 Ruth Kirschstein National Research Service Award, Fogarty Global Health Scholar Program, and K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award).
