Practice- and community-based research and initiatives
Between the work of faculty in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and our partners in the Yale Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS, YSPH promotes healthy aging through better access to care, improving emotional health and reducing caregiver stress. Additionally, researchers work on identifying how living and financial environments affect the health of older adults, along with developing social capital interventions to improve viral suppression and quality of life among HIV-positive aging populations.
Globally, work in chronic diseases, health equity and research in humanitarian settings has implications for healthy aging of people worldwide.
