Maternal and Child Health

CDE faculty focus their research on a broad range of maternal health conditions, genetic susceptibilities, nutritional, and environmental exposures during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period and their associated child health outcomes. Our research is implemented through prospective birth cohorts, pre-conception cohorts, and randomized controlled trials. Research areas are diverse ranging from vitamin D and miscarriage risk, to the effect of air pollution on fetal growth, to the impacts of obesity and gestational diabetes on childhood metabolic health, and the genetic pathways associated with pre-eclampsia and childhood asthma.
