Pathogen Genomics, Diagnostics, and Molecular Epidemiology

Faculty in Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases are working at the cutting edge in the fields of pathogen genomics and diagnostics. We use next-generation sequencing data and bioinformatic approaches to deliver on the promise of precision public health. From tracing pathogen transmission routes, examining the evolution and emergence of viral and bacterial pathogens, tracking viruses in sewage samples, and developing novel, low-cost diagnostics for SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory pathogens, Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) makes major contributions to research and public health practice in these critical areas.
