Earning a graduate degree from the Yale School of Public Health is a valuable but major investment. Financial aid should never be a barrier to your education, which is why our goal is to empower students throughout the process.

Below you'll find financial aid information for YSPH students, including funding tips, scholarships, external funding, loans, student employment, and special circumstances.

Funding Tips

After reviewing the total estimated costs for the year, it’s time to think about funding.

1. Scholarships: First, consider funding you don’t have to repay, such as YSPH scholarships and external funding.
2. Student Employment: Next, you should think about student employment. Most of our students work, and that helps to offset living expenses.
3. Savings: Learn how billing works, review payment options, and consider the Yale Payment Plan if someone else will be helping to fund your education.
4. Loans: Last, you should consider loan options. Students elect loan types and amounts over the summer.

YSPH Scholarships

There's no separate application for scholarships since your admissions application includes any necessary information to determine your scholarship eligibility.

All newly accepted YSPH students will receive a financial summary letter within 10 days of admission. This letter will include any YSPH scholarships awarded for the entirety of your MPH degree.

Student Employment

Student employment is a strength at Yale, with many job opportunities across campus.

In addition to an on-campus hourly wage of at least $16.94 an hour, student employment offers flexible part-time positions designed to allow students to balance their studies and their job. YSPH tuition remission is not a benefit of employment at Yale (including teaching and research positions), but you may gain valuable work experience and professional references. Most students work 10-12 hours a week during the school year.

Campus Jobs

• New YSPH students will have access to view job postings and apply after June 1 using their Yale credentials in the Student Employment portal. New jobs are posted weekly; however, most positions are posted near the start of a term.
• A small number of jobs require Federal Work Study on your award offer to apply. You can check in YaleHub under Financial Aid Offer to see if you have it on your account.

Teaching Fellowships

• Several weeks into each term, open teaching fellowship positions will be posted.
• Teaching Fellowship positions do not include a tuition discount.

Research Assistant Jobs

• There are research projects that need a research assistant. We suggest you begin your search for a research assistant position by asking your faculty adviser for suggestions. There are also many positions posted on the Student Employment website.
• Research Assistant positions do not include a tuition discount.
