Summer Research Experience in Environmental Health (SREEH)
The EHS Department offers a unique opportunity to a group of 20 students (10 will focus on Alzheimer’s Disease) who are currently enrolled in Connecticut colleges and universities to attend an eight-week research program. The experience is meant to motivate and prepare a diverse group of undergraduate students to pursue higher education and careers on the leading edge of environmental health sciences by introducing them to five major emerging topics and research tools:
- AI and Data Science for Environmental Health
- Technological Innovation in Environmental Health
- Advancements in Toxicology and Exposure Science
- Early-Life Health Influences and Disease Prevention
- Green Chemistry and Sustainable Technologies
- Applications in Major Human Diseases
Eligibility Requirements:
The SREEH Program is designed for students with a strong commitment to pursuing graduate-level education in Environmental Health Science. Students who demonstrate compelling research plans will be considered. Students enrolled in any Connecticut colleges and universities who are freshmen or sophomores (entering sophomore and junior years) are encouraged to apply. Applications should include a resume, transcripts, recommendation letters, a personal statement outlining research interests, and a statement on how their background and experiences contribute to the program's goals.
Program Dates
June 23 – August 15, 2025
Application dates: December 15, 2024 – March 15, 2025
Stipend: The program will be held in person and will provide $600/week to cover expenses.
Admissions Notifications: Students selected to participate will be notified directly no later than April 30, 2025 and a wait list created. Selected applicants will have two weeks to accept. If slots are still available after the two-week period, we will notify wait-listed applicants.
