YSPH Climate Change and Health Seminar, "From Wildfire Smoke to Cool Roofs: Exposure Science for Climate Change Solutions," with Dr. José Guillermo Cedeño Laurent

Dr. José Guillermo (Memo) Cedeño Laurent is an Assistant Professor at the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute at Rutgers University. He directs the Climate Adaptive and Restorative Environments (CARE) Lab, where his research focuses on understanding and mitigating the health impacts of climate-driven hazards—particularly wildfires and extreme heat. His work emphasizes wildland–urban interface fire air pollution, indoor exposure to particulate and gas-phase contaminants, and the development of data-driven tools, including sensors and digital biomarkers, to assess and reduce human health risks. He received his ScD in Environmental Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a master’s degree in Energy Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in Germany, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
