Mahrokh F Irani, DDS, MPH, MBA

As Chief of Staff and Senior Strategist, Dr. Mahrokh Irani serves as senior advisor to Dean Megan L. Ranney and leads the Yale School of Public Health’s strategic initiatives portfolio. Her responsibilities span institutional strategy, capital planning, corporate and external partnerships, and school-wide events.

Dr. Irani joined YSPH in 2023 as the school prepared to separate from the Yale School of Medicine and played a central role in the administrative build-out that established YSPH as an independent, self-supporting school on July 1, 2024. She helped shape the organizational structure for the school’s administration and has since provided direct leadership to several offices during periods of transition—including communications and marketing and development and alumni affairs—helping position them for long-term leadership and success.

A member of YSPH’s senior leadership team, Dr. Irani helped shape the school’s first five-year strategic plan as an independent institution and leads implementation of its third strategic priority, Fostering Community. She also leads strategic planning for the school’s proposed new building, helping translate the school’s long-term academic and institutional priorities into its physical environment.

An oral surgeon by training, she earned her dental degree in Mumbai, India, and holds an MPH from Harvard University, completed postdoctoral training at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and an MBA from Northeastern University. Her expertise includes institutional strategy, organizational design and change management in academic institutions.
