Eleven faculty in the Yale Department of Psychiatry were nominated for prestigious Yale School of Medicine teaching awards in Spring 2026.
Charles W. Bohmfalk Prizes for Teaching in Basic Sciences and Clinical Sciences
Established in 1989 under the terms of the Alice Bohmfalk Charitable Trust, teaching prizes are awarded each year to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the teaching program, one in the basic sciences and one in the clinical sciences.
Nominated for the basic sciences award were Alfred Kaye, MD, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry; and Albert Higgins-Chen, MD, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry and pathology.
Nominated for the clinical sciences award were Yun Feng, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry; Brian Fuehrlein, MD, PhD, associate professor of psychiatry; Sean Patterson, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry; Christopher Pittenger, MD, PhD, Elizabeth Mears and House Jameson Professor of Psychiatry; and Robert Rohrbaugh, MD, professor of psychiatry.
Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award
Presented by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, this award was established in 1998 by the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to honor the faculty member and graduating medical student who demonstrates the highest standard of compassion and sensitivity in their interactions with patients.
Nominated for the award were Elie Abdelnour, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry; Jessica Burris, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry; Robert Ostroff, MD, clinical professor of psychiatry; and Kirsten Wilkins, MD, professor of psychiatry.
