YSPH EMD Seminar Series: “Metabolic Syndrome in HIV+ Children: The Epidemic-In-Waiting”

Dr. Elijah Paintsil is a Professor of Pediatrics (Infectious Diseases), Pharmacology, Public Health, and Management at Yale University. He is the Chief of the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases & Global Health, Department of Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine and Director of Pediatric AIDS Program at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society for Pediatric Research, and Academic Pediatric Society and a consultant to Africa CDC. His clinical interest is pediatric infectious diseases with special interest in prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV and pediatric HIV treatment outcomes in resource-limited settings. The Paintsil lab focuses on increasing our understanding of the host determinants of individual differences in response to HIV treatment, particularly treatment-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and end-organ dysfunction.
