The Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the appointments of Dr. Elizabeth Berger and Dr. Jennifer Ogilvie as its representatives to the Yale School of Medicine Faculty Advisory Council (FAC). Dr. Berger will serve as the education representative, and Dr. Ogilvie will represent the clinical mission. They join Dr. Isibor Arhuidese, who continues as the department’s research representative, ensuring comprehensive representation across the academic missions.
Drs. Berger and Ogilvie succeed Drs. Courtney Gibson and Douglas Hildrew, who completed their terms on the FAC.
The FAC serves as a vital sounding board and information exchange group for the Dean’s Office, with members addressing topics that span research, education, and clinical care. Representatives are selected by their peers for their expertise and ability to effectively communicate faculty perspectives.
“Having representatives like Drs. Berger, Ogilvie, and Arhuidese ensures that we bring diverse insights to the table and provide robust feedback on key issues,” said Benjamin Judson, MD, MBA, Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs for the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Berger, a leader in breast surgery education, and Dr. Ogilvie, Section Chief of Endocrine Surgery, bring invaluable expertise to their new roles. Together with Dr. Arhuidese, a surgeon-scientist from the Division of Vascular Surgery, they will ensure that the voices of the Department of Surgery faculty are well-represented in FAC discussions.
