Post-Graduate Associate in LGBTQ Mental Health at the Yale School of Public Health

The Yale LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative at the Yale School of Public Health is seeking a post-graduate associate, holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology, public health, or related discipline, to gain clinical research experience related to sexual and gender minority individuals’ mental health. The post-graduate associate will participate in supervised research. One supervised component will involve training in and hands-on demonstration of human subjects research, including learning to administer assessments and managing and analyzing data from studies related to sexual and gender minority mental health, including several ongoing clinical trials. Consideration will also be given for the candidate to participate in a second supervised component, which will additionally involve recruiting study participants, creating study measures, learning to describe human subjects protections in human subjects protection documents, writing continuing reviews and modifications for IRB protocols, communicating research findings to the public, and assisting with grant writing and manuscript publication, including literature reviews and data analysis.

Experience with psychological research, database management, and statistical analyses are required (using e.g., SPSS, R, Qualtrics, Excel). Experience conducting research within LGBTQ communities, or providing services with LGBTQ communities, is required. Other required skills include: ability to discuss serious mental health concerns with research participants while maintaining professional boundaries; ability to consult with clinical research team members about participant safety and wellbeing; attention to detail; independence and self-motivation; organizational ability; excellent interpersonal skills; an ethic of teamwork and collaboration; and a commitment to the inclusion and belonging of stigmatized populations in research and practice. The post-graduate associate will work closely with PhD-level researchers in LGBTQ mental health and will gain experience in clinical research methodologies and psychological and public health interventions. The post-graduate associate will also gain experience with community outreach and data management and presentation. Our office is located in Midtown Manhattan, easily accessible by NYC metro-area public transportation. This salaried position comes with health insurance.
