Administrators, faculty, staff and students in public health at Yale will celebrate the life and words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the first floor lobby of the Laboratory of Epidemiology and Public Health, 60 College St.
The event is free and open to the public and will include wine and cheese. Curtis Patton, professor and director of international medical studies in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) at Yale School of Medicine, will read excerpts from King's "Letter From a Birmingham Jail." The event, organized by the EPH minority affairs committee, will also include readings from other administrators, faculty, staff and students in EPH.
"The committee thought it would be appropriate to have a reception on Dr. King's actual birthday," said Patton. "Although he did not speak directly on public health issues, his goals and mission will eventually have a profound effect on the nation's health and we need to make a note of that."
