Yale Developmental Neurocognitive Driving Simulation Research Center (DrivSim Lab) faculty, in collaboration with investigators from University of Virginia, recently published a study that developed an injury severity prediction model for pediatric patients that are involved in motor vehicle collisions, which can accurately predict the severeness of an injured pediatric patient. This decision support tool can be used to assist EMS providers with trauma triage after a motor vehicle crash. It has been shown that transporting pediatric patients that are severely injured to a trauma center, can decrease mortality.
