Here is a little twist to the Resolutions of HEALTH
Happy
Abraham Lincoln said, “We are only as happy as we make ourselves be.” We spend a lot of time focusing on unhappiness, which makes for more unhappiness. Instead, focus on the good parts of your life that bring joy.
At the end of your day, turn off the news, step away from the screen and ask yourself; what was the best thing that happened to me today? It could be as simple as a good cup of coffee or a comforting hug. Then close your eyes and end your day with that happy, positive thought.
Energy - Have you ever been in a room with someone who has lots of positive energy? How did you feel? Now think of what it feels like to be around someone with lots of negative energy. All of us have our own level of energy. Having positive energy is about the little things. Say good morning, compliment someone, laugh instead of getting angry. When someone asks you how you are, focus on what feels good. Put the passion back into your days with some positive energy.
Attitude - Along with positive energy goes positive attitude. Don’t focus on what’s wrong with your day or what’s wrong with the world. Negative attitude has an unbelievable impact on our health. We cannot change the past, we cannot change other people’s actions, but we can change our attitude and how we think about things. It is one of the very few things we are totally in charge of.
Lifestyle - You have heard it all before. The way you live your life, how you treat your body and mind matters. Perfection isn’t necessary. Small changes in the way you eat, sleep, think and move will make a difference.
Take Action - Nothing; absolutely nothing happens unless you take action. We tend to focus on the challenge of change. Change itself takes very little time; it’s working up to change that takes the longest. Write down three goals, along with each goal write down one or two action steps and without any negative thoughts, take action.
Humor - Do you remember the last time you laughed till you cried? Ahh, the power of laughter. It’s a wonderful release. Next time you need a good laugh, call a friend, or watch a funny movie. Guaranteed you will feel better. Laughter is the best medicine!
This year, resolve to have a little more H.E.A.L.T.H. Happiness, Energy, Attitude, Lifestyle, Take Action and Humor.
