Yale School of Public Health Dean Megan L. Ranney, MD, MPH, announced today that Dr. Peter Hotez, BA '80, MD, PhD, has been selected as the 2024 recipient of the prestigious C.-E. A. Winslow Medal. This award honors individuals whose work embodies the ideals of C.-E. A. Winslow, the founder of our school and a pioneer of modern public health.
Dr. Hotez is a distinguished pediatrician-scientist, co-director of the Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development, and serves as professor and dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He is renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to vaccine development and his unwavering commitment to addressing neglected tropical diseases and public health disparities.
Dr. Hotez is a graduate of Yale College and previously spent a decade as a postdoctoral fellow and on our faculty during the 1990s.
