Title- An Introduction to Building Web Applications and Services Using R
Abstract
You may have used R-based web applications such as Shiny or web services such as plumbr, but have you wondered how R interacts with the web browser or acts behind a web service? In this talk, I will share some low-level knowledge on how to create a web server from R that allows you to interact with R using your web browser or any other web tools. The talk is mainly based on the R packages httpuv and servr. Hopefully you will be able to learn the basics in ten minutes. Then I will show some demos, including a new way to run R code and other interesting (perhaps also surprising) applications. I can use the rest of the time to answer questions (feel free to email me in advance, and questions do not have to be related to this particular talk).
