YSPH Involvement

The 2025 Yale Innovation Summit (YIS) convenes visionaries, investors, founders, and industry leaders across the arts, biotech, health, civic engagement, and technology. Yale Ventures tapped Kaakpema “KP” Yelpaala, MPH ’06, Senior Fellow and Lecturer at YSPH, to be the health track lead for this year’s summit. The health track has many participants from the YSPH community, including:

• A keynote fireside chat with the 24th U.S. Secretary of Health Alex Azar (2018-2021), JD ’91, moderated by Dean Megan L. Ranney, MD, MPH.
• A panel on state-level policy moderated by Yelpaala that will include Anne Zink, MD, Senior Fellow, YSPH.
• A panel on global health moderated by Mehul Mehta, MD, MPH, Adjunct Professor, YSPH, featuring Jo-Angeline Kalambo, MPH ’03, Global Fund.
• An innovator spotlight on Mark Abraham, BA ’04, MPH ’23, Executive Director of DataHaven.
• A session on climate-driven water challenges for population health with Associate Professor Nicole Deziel, PhD, MHS.
• A live “Health & Veritas” podcast co-hosted by Professor Howard P. Forman MD, MBA, and Dean Ranney.
• A Health Pitch Competition on May 29th featuring the 2024 and 2025 InnovateHealth Yale Thorne Prize winners.

YIS is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded health practitioners working in the U.S. and globally. We anticipate attendance by notable alumni and friends of YSPH.
