Center for Methods in Implementation and Prevention Science (CMIPS) Seminar presented by Cathleen Willging, Ph.D: “Averting Methodological and Analytic Mayhem in Qualitative Implementation Research”

This seminar will focus on the nuts and bolts of undertaking longitudinal qualitative implementation research, drawing examples from a community-engaged, mixed-method, cluster-randomized controlled trial focused on enabling the use of evidence-informed practices to improve the well-being of sexually and gender-diverse students in New Mexico high schools. It will provide insight into the nuances of collecting and leveraging qualitative data from a variety of sources (e.g., interviews, focus groups, periodic reflections); coding, analytic, and triangulation strategies; and ensuring the credibility and trustworthiness of research findings. Finally, this seminar will highlight how nimbleness in qualitative implementation research makes it possible to pivot to emergent issues occurring in the field and interpret results in relation to conceptual frameworks and theories not previously considered.
