Biography

Leah Puklin, PhD, MPH, is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Chronic Disease Epidemiology (CDE) at the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH). Dr. Puklin's research applies implementation science methodologies to integrate lifestyle-related supportive care services—such as nutrition and exercise—into routine oncology care.

Her expertise includes leveraging electronic medical record (EMR) data to examine the characteristics and care patterns of cancer survivors treated within the Smilow Cancer Hospital catchment area. Dr. Puklin has contributed to multiple behavioral lifestyle intervention studies focused on newly diagnosed cancer patients and cancer survivors, evaluating their impact on treatment adherence, quality of life, health behaviors, and serum biomarkers. Additionally, she has conducted several qualitative and mixed-methods research studies exploring barriers and facilitators to implementing behavioral lifestyle counseling during active cancer treatment.

Dr. Puklin earned both her PhD (2024) and MPH (2019) in Chronic Disease Epidemiology from YSPH. She completed her undergraduate studies at Connecticut College in 2015, graduating with a major in Environmental Studies and a minor in Mathematics.
