Impact evaluation of PM2.5 exposure on disease burden estimates in the United States:
Using the measurement error corrected estimate of the effect of PM2.5 exposure on all-cause mortality in the Nurses’ Health Study obtained from previously published research from our group, here we examine the impact of adjustment for bias due to measurement error on estimates of lives lost in the U.S. due to this exposure and of lives saved due to several rollback strategies. The disease burden was under-estimated by approximate 1/3. With colleagues Breanna Alman and Neal Fann at EPA, and Biling Hong at HSPH, the manuscript for this project has been written and signed off on by all co-authors. We are currently waiting for EPA approval to submit to Health Affairs.
