Biography

Ayanna Alexander is a medical doctor with a speciality in public health. She is interested in communicable and non-communicable diseases and the social determinants of health in vulnerable communities. She is dedicated to the reform and improvement of the health of the people in the Caribbean Region. Ayanna has been conducting research in public health for the past 6 years with a focus on communicable diseases and epidemiology. Among other areas, she has focused on HIV, STIs, Maternal health and climate change. She recognizes that Climate Change is one of the most eminent threats to affect the health of the people of the Caribbean region. therefore she has aimed to focus her work on how climate resilience intersects with improving health outcomes in vulnerable communities. She is one of the Trinidad and Tobago fellows for the EU/CARIFORUM Climate Change and Health project.
