Abstract/SynopsisOPTIMA was a randomized clinical trial coordinated by the VA Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Center at West Haven, CT, which is a 2x2 factorial trial of salvage therapy evaluating mega-HAART versus standard HARRT and treatment interruption versus no interruption in 368 patients with advanced HIV disease. OPTIMA was a tri-national collaboration among the VA, UK Medical Research Council and the Canadian Institutes for Health Research. The trial was completed in 2008.

Abstract/SynopsisCOURAGE was a randomized clinical trial coordinated by the VA Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Center at West Haven, CT, which evaluated maximal medical therapy plus angioplasty versus maximum medical therapy alone in patients with stable coronary disease. The trial enrolled 2287 patients from 50 U.S and Canadian medical centers. The trial was completed in 2006 and published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2007 (356: 1503-16)
