"Hard Choices: Reflections on the Real-World Challenges of Public health leadership during crisis"
Over the past 6 years, the US public health ecosystem has faced unprecedented demands. Today, in the aftermath of the pandemic, with sharply decreased public trust and seismic shifts to funding, resilience will require a reinvigorated workforce and strong leadership. Using real-world examples, we explore the challenges of making tough decisions in the moment, when information is incomplete, competing pressures are converging, and stakeholders are all over the map. Reflecting on what we did as a society will offer insight into what public health leaders need to prepare for in the future.
