The Yale Center on Climate Change and Health (YCCCH) will be participating in and co-hosting two events at this year’s Climate Week NYC, which will bring together global leaders, innovators, and activists dedicated to addressing the climate crisis. Alongside two impactful partners (Resilient Cities Network and The New York Academy of Medicine), YCCCH will showcase cutting-edge research, hosted interactive panels, and collaborated with other institutions to promote sustainable solutions and policies.

Resilient Cities, Reimagining Health: Making the Case for Prevention

As a part of the Yale @ Climate Week NYC program, this event will describe a global initiative to support and scale up action on city-led preventative approaches to improve health, support systems resilience, and decarbonize care. Building on a global collaboration between the Sustainable Markets Initiative, Resilient Cities Network, Yale University, and Mode Economics, a report entitled Resilient Cities, Reimagining Health: Making the Case for Prevention will be released. Through structured review and economic analysis, this report will demonstrate the need for place-based, climate-sensitive, preventative health approaches. It includes quantitative evidence on how climate will impact public health needs; key interventions to improve health, reduce costs and emissions, build equity, and resilience; and a high-level framework for successful, city-led implementation.
