An endowment initiated by the Women’s Health Research at Yale Advisory Council is nearing its $1 million goal. The endowment was established to recognize the trailblazing work of Carolyn M. Mazure, PhD, founder and director of Women’s Health Research at Yale, Norma Weinberg Spungen and Joan Lebson Bildner Professor in Women’s Health, and professor of psychiatry and psychology.

The Carolyn M. Mazure Educational Fund to Promote the Health of Women will support efforts offering an array of learning experiences about research on the health of women and the rapidly growing information on the influence of biological sex and social construct of gender on health. Mazure’s accomplishments over the past 25 years redefine the way we research, diagnose, and treat women’s health and has brought women’s health to the forefront in a way that provides the opportunity for everyone to benefit from scientific innovation.

Along with her emphasis on advancing research, Mazure has identified education as one of the next frontiers for the integration of information on women’s health as well as an area that requires life-long updating. Moreover, the fund will support many different opportunities to integrate meaningful data on women and the influence of sex and gender on health. For example, the endowment will support efforts to share new health information with communities at the local, regional, and national level as well as inform new generations of physicians and biomedical researchers.

The Carolyn M. Mazure Education Fund to Promote the Health of Women will fuel Women’s Health Research at Yale’s mission in perpetuity. At the time of publication, the fund is 85 percent to its September 2024 goal.
