Biography
Julie has 19 years of experience in research and data collection at Yale University, with high‑quality qualitative and quantitative data at the center of her work.
She joined the Connecticut Emerging Infections Program (EIP) in 2020 to support the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID‑19) Hospitalization Surveillance Network (COVID‑NET), where she manages complex and evolving datasets, including COVID‑19 vaccination data, and leads the Influenza/RSV/COVID Disease Burden projects. She now contributes broadly to the Respiratory Virus Hospitalization Surveillance Network (RESP‑NET), leading data extraction initiatives, mentoring colleagues in data management and analytic techniques, and developing new methods, protocols, and code to strengthen surveillance workflows and improve data quality.
Since 2008, she has also served as the statistical analysis and data support lead for epidemiological studies of environmental exposures and early childhood health outcomes at the Yale Center for Perinatal, Pediatric & Environmental Epidemiology. Her research has focused on assessing the effects of indoor and outdoor air pollution on vulnerable populations, integrating environmental monitoring data with clinical and demographic information to better understand risk and impact.
She is committed to applying advanced data analysis expertise to public health initiatives that enhance surveillance systems, improve understanding of environmental and infectious disease risks, and support stronger population health outcomes.
