Opportunities for Lifelong Learning

Are you a public health professional interested in continuing your training?

YSPH’s Office of Public Health Practice (OPHP) is the Connecticut partner of the New England Public Health Training Center, delivering a wide range of training programs and services that strengthen the public health workforce. OPHP leads the Connecticut Partnership for Public Health Workforce Development which brings together key training stakeholders to leverage resources and provide continuing education opportunities to Connecticut public health practitioners. The Office is also a designated provider of continuing education activities for Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) and Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES®).

The OPHP team offers workshops, webinars and distance learning opportunities in partnership with public health professional associations, governmental agencies and community-based organizations. To access our trainings, go to TRAIN Connecticut or NEPHTC’s website, two free learning management systems.. OPHP also offers training design, curricula development and course evaluation services. For governmental public health agencies seeking PHAB accreditation, consultation on training need assessments can be provided. Local health departments can also connect with students by posting internships and employment opportunities.

Additionally, OPHP is partnering with the Connecticut Department of Public Health to deliver two new workforce development initiatives intended to enhance training for current and future public health workers across the entire state: the Public Health Training Academy of Connecticut and the Public Health Fellowship Program.
