Current visiting associate professor in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at the Yale School of Public Health, collaborating with Rafael Perez-Escamilla. Maria Wakolbinger is an associate professor at the Medical University of Vienna's Center for Public Health. She is a nutrition scientist with a PhD in Applied Medical Sciences and training in Endocrinology and Metabolism. She serves on the board of the Austrian Obesity Association and she works with the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO). During her academic career, she specialized in clinical research on obesity and weight loss including bariatric surgery. She is currently working in the field of Public Health Nutrition, with an emphasis on the prevention of obesity, plant-based diets, digital food marketing, and maternal and child health including breastfeeding.
