Why did you choose the Yale School of Public Health?

I chose the Yale School of Public Health because of the opportunity to receive a world-class education from the faculty and the ability to learn alongside other innovative students. When researching schools, it was apparent the faculty was always willing to go the extra mile and advocate for their students. Along with this, Yale’s environment that encourages collaboration will allow me to help create unique solutions that greatly impact the field of public health.

What were you doing before enrolling at YSPH?

Before enrolling at YSPH, I was enrolled in the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where I completed my third year of school. My research areas included clinical optimization and patient outcomes. During this time, I learned the importance of the intersection of public health and medicine.

What are your favorite aspects of the YSPH academic program?

My favorite aspect of the YSPH academic program is the flexibility to tailor my education and the kindness of the faculty. Coming from a medical school background, I am able to take courses from multiple departments that align with my educational goals and that will impact my clinical career. In addition, the YSPH faculty has gone above and beyond! Numerous professors have offered to review my papers for potential publication, talk to me about their career journeys, and connect me to people they believe I can learn from.

What was your most impactful experience outside of class?

My most impactful experience outside the classroom was conducting and presenting clinical research with the Yale School of Medicine. Through this experience, I can use the information I learned in the classroom and translate it into clinical research. As someone who strives to be a physician-scientist, this experience has been very impactful.

Do you have a favorite Yale place or New Haven food?

My favorite restaurant in New Haven is Consiglio’s Restaurant. Their lasagna is one of my favorites, and they have a beautiful outdoor patio with fire pits. It is a must-try in New Haven! Plan to get there early, as they can run out of their lasagna because it is so good!

What do you hope to do after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to return to medical school to complete my fourth year of schooling. After completing medical school, I plan to pursue a medical residency in anesthesiology and pursue my dream of becoming a physician-scientist.
