Library tips from the Public Health Librarians

Learn more about Quicksearch

Did you know...Quicksearch is Yale’s discovery layer where you can search all of Yale’s collections and subscriptions across all library locations in a single search?! Conveniently, after running an initial search, you can then browse results by format type (archives, audio, journal and magazine articles, and more). Watch this two-minute-long video tutorial to learn how to use Quicksearch, then try it out for yourself, and get in touch with any questions you might have.

Optimize Your Google Scholar Searching Experience with YaleLinks

Evidence-based public health requires-- you guessed it-- evidence! One avenue for finding information to inform a public health intervention is Google Scholar-- but make sure you use Google Scholar with Yale Links set up.

Yale Links ensures that Yale University affiliates get free, direct access to Google Scholar search results that Yale University Library pays for in its numerous electronic resource subscriptions. Set up Yale Links today with these simple step-by-step instructions.

New Public Health Support Page on the Medical Library Website

Happy New Year! This new year brings with it a new dedicated public health subpage of the Medical Library website. Check out the public health page here and don't forget to bookmark it in your preferred web browser.

Students -- we encourage you to use this site to schedule consultations with a public health librarian to ask questions about class assignments, your internship, your thesis, and whatever else you may need. We hope that frequenting this site makes literature searching or accessing a library-provided resource easier (i.e. a health science database or The New York Times).

Faculty instructors — we encourage you to explore the list of topics a librarian can guest lecture on in your class. Plus, use the site to keep current on publishing waivers and discounts you can receive as a Yale affiliate through read-and-publish deals the Library has negotiated for.

We welcome your feedback on this brand new, thoughtfully designed public health ‘corner’ of the Medical Library website, and we look forward to working with you this year.

Do you like print books?

We have “open stacks,” which means that you are invited to browse the bookshelves yourself. But you can also have library staff pick your book off the shelf and hold it for you at the circulation desk – even if the book is shelved at a different Yale library. Very fast, very convenient! Just click the “Request for Pickup” link in QuickSearch Books+.

Have a question?
