InnovateHealth Yale (IHY), based at the Yale School of Public Health, is accepting applications for its Rita Wilson Seed Grant in Support of Innovation and Entrepreneurship through Oct. 9. To apply, follow this link, which will also be included in the IHY newsletter.
The $1,000 grant will be awarded to student-led ventures for innovative solutions that address a health or education challenge that disproportionately impacts low-income communities in the United States or low-resource countries. The ventures can be nonprofit or for-profit.
“This grant is a way for any current Yale student to field-test their idea, get feedback on their proposal, and make progress on their goals,” said Fatema Basrai, director of innovation at InnovateHealth Yale. “In the short run, we hope the grant allows students to gain traction on their innovative ideas.”

Basrai hopes applying for this seed money will allow students to clarify their innovative ideas, and encourage them to apply for IHY’s two major grants – the Rita Wilson Prize and the Thorne Prize – which will be presented in the spring at Startup Yale, the university’s largest entrepreneurship event. “In the longer run, we hope this grant and all of the impact grants offered through IHY are the just the start of a lifelong social innovation journey!” she said.
