INFORMATION FOR

GHLI in China

For 10 years, GHLI has collaborated with partners in China to equip hospital executives with the strategic leadership skills and tools to lead major national reforms and address the challenges facing a rapidly growing Chinese health system.

The Yale Hospital Management and Leadership Program, offered in collaboration with Beijing IMD Science & Technology engages hospital executives in an executive-style, certificate level program kicks off with an in-person forum in Beijing and culminates in an in-person forum on the Yale campus in New Haven. These forums combine lectures from top faculty, site visits, and experiential learning activities. Between forums, participants undertake a mentored field assignment to strengthen their leadership and management capacity and address the most pressing strategic challenges in their home organizations.

The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women: Yale-Tsinghua Certificate Program in International Healthcare Management Program reached over 500 female health care executives in China, combining practical field experience and classroom-based education to equip women across the health system with essential leadership and management skills, with a focus on those working in rural and underserved urban communities. The program was the first in China between two internationally renowned universities to target female health care administrators from secondary and county level hospitals, community health centers, and local health bureaus throughout the country.

The Yale GHLI-Fudan Mental Health Program, a partnership forged with Fudan University in Shanghai, resulted in a certificate-level program at Yale for Chinese psychiatrists which brought together world-class education in both clinical care and health services management and leadership. The program exposed participants to best practices in psychiatric care and treatment, clinical research methodologies, and essential leadership and management skills for improved mental health service delivery.

GHLI's certificate programs equip Chinese hospital executives with the leadership and management skills needed to translate national policy reforms into improved health outcomes
