YSPH-SBS 526 Seminar: Dr. Tene Lewis, Emory University (co-sponsored with the Department of Psychology)
Tené T. Lewis is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. Her primary area of research is in the area of health psychology/psychosocial epidemiology, with an emphasis in cardiovascular disease (CVD) among at-risk women. She has been PI of three NIH R01-funded cohorts) examining linkages between a range of psychosocial stressors, resilience, and CVD risk in African-American women. Her overall body of work was honored with a 2012 Early Career Award for Distinguished Contributions to Health Psychology and a 2020 Dalmas Taylor Award for Outstanding Mid-Career Contributions to Research on Minority Health and Well Being from the Minority Fellowship Program, both from the American Psychological Association. She was also a featured panelist on a White House Women’s Health Research Initiative roundtable with First Lady Jill Biden in February, 2024. In addition to this, she is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Heart Association (AHA), the Society for Biopsychosocial Science and Medicine (SBSM), the American Psychological Association (APA), the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research (ABMR) and a past-President of the Society for Biopsychosocial Science and Medicine/formerly the American Psychosomatic Society (focused on the study of mind-body relationships).
