Prof. Dimosthenis Sarigiannis is Director and Chairman of the Board at the National Hellenic Research Foundation, Professor of Environmental Engineering and Director of the Research Unit for the Exposome and Health at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is also Professor of Environmental Health Engineering and Director of the Research Center on Complex Data and Risk Analysis at the Institute for Advanced Studies IUSS in Pavia, Italy. He is President of the Mediterranean Scientific Association for Environmental Protection and Vice President of the Hellenic Society of Toxicology. He has written over 200 scientific papers and 30 chapters in books and has coordinated 50 international research projects. His research activity focuses on the human exposome, health risk and impact assessment, cancer theranostics, industrial ecology and the design of safe and sustainable chemicals, materials and products. For his work on the safety of chemicals and pharmaceuticals he was awarded in 2015 the Bo Holmstedt Prize by the European Society of Toxicology and the Bo Holmstedt Foundation.
