Climate Change and Health Seminar: "The Nexus of Climate Change, Disasters, and Human Health"
Join the Yale Center on Climate Change and Health for this special seminar featuring Dr. Samendra Sherchan (Tulane University). Dr. Sherchan will discuss his work in the US assessing the effects of natural disasters on pregnancy and health outcomes, then his work in Nepal presenting the association between climatic factors and COVID/diarrheal diseases. Dr. Sherchan serves as Program Director for the MS in Environmental Health Sciences and Director of the Tulane Water Quality Laboratory. He received his PhD from the Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science at the University of Arizona. His research interests include climate change and public health, infectious disease epidemiology, emergency preparedness, and water reuse, sanitation, and hygiene in developing countries. Over the past 10 years, he has gained considerable experience working with communities affected by climate change and natural disasters. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Water and Health and BMC Infectious Diseases. He is also on the editorial boards of ACS Water and Science of the Total Environment.
