DESCRIPTION:This Place Is a Message is a devised\, outdoor ensemble perfor
 mance* using the immediacy of COVID-19 to conceptualize the climate crisi
 s. This original play will weave together letters from climate scientists
  about the emotional impact of studying climate change\, efforts to warn 
 future civilizations about long-range nuclear waste\, and experiences of 
 health communication during the pandemic. In exploring these efforts to s
 hare life-and-death information across vast divides of discipline\, time 
 and ideology\, the creative ensemble will use empathetic storytelling to 
 highlight the urgent realities of climate change. The creative ensemble c
 onsists of artists\, scientists\, students\, and health professionals. To
 gether they will draw on the emotional experiences of frontline communica
 tors in both acute and chronic crises to establish the power of live perf
 ormance as a tool for education and processing collective grief. *Please 
 note that as part of the experience\, attendees will walk a total of appr
 oximately a half-mile outdoors on uneven ground accompanied by a guide. A
